Path hears heavy breathing from behind, and then the voice of one of the young mercenaries: "I swear, I am not used to do murder, but if you don't decide on which side you want to fight, I will cut your throat where you stand, mist-man."

The youngster behind Path stops for a moment and sighs. "What have we done to you that these creatures haunt us without end?"

"I understand as much as you do, son."

Path sighs.

"I don't... I don't know why...", he says. He lifts his shoulders.

Then he steps forward, towards the stairs while unsheathing his sword. In the dim moonlight falling through the cracks in the roof of the attic the sword glistens with cold drops, as if it is sweating.

"Let's get that.. thing...", he hisses through his teeth.

The little white drops on the blade evaporate, trickling thin whisps of smoke upwards and around the steel. As Path walks down the stairs towards the pale lady, his sword seems to have disappeared almost in the fog surrounding it.

I will pick up Jigimy and carry him to the nearest shelter, then apply first aid [I don't have a clear idea of where we are in the yard of the inn at this point, so I don't know which shelter is closest - under the stairs, in the good barn or in the ruined barn].

(Spellcraft to see what she has done to Jigimy) I shout to the apparition "Oh Goddess, I am sorry that I doubted your power. How may I serve you. What is your will of me." I fall to the ground bowing before the Goddess.

(Before Sven picks up Jigimy)

Jigimy looks up from burning the creature to see the searing flames strike him square in the chest. In shock, he falls to his rear beside the burning body.

After the apparition waves her hand, Jigimy's eyes roll back as his head slams to the ground.

[Were you aware that the cat-like footprints were leading into one of the upper rooms? - Big error... Twisted Evil ]

As Path darts to the stairs, he hears a cry coming from the right. In the next moment, something plunges on him, and Path meets the eyes of a angry white tiger that pushes him down the stairs. Path and this monstrous adversary fall down the stairs into the main room...

[No damage for you here, for it is obvious that this was just a misunderstanding... Wink ]

When Sven finally feels to be out of reach of the glowing figure, he realizes he's too late. The halfling is dead.

HAHAHA I KNEW YOU WOULD UNDERSTAND MY SUPERIORITY, MY CHILD

The ghostly figure rejoices at Erdath's words.

YOU MAY GO NOW AND PUT OUT THE FIRE ON MY MOTHER'S BONES

THEN RETURN AND KILL THEM ALL WHO HAVE ANGERED ME

"That can't be! That witch!" Rowell, having stood like paralyzed when the girl cursed the halfling, turns his back to the scene and runs as fast as he can.

"Get out of here!"

"Poor little guy..."
I will gently close Jigimy's eyes. Then coming out from under the stairs (I assume that is where I carried him) I will charge the "goddess" running full tilt, sword swinging. [This seems to be a good day to die and my family will hopefully learn that I didn't run when the chips were down.]

"Aaaahhhhhh!!!!!!!"

I will go over to the well (that is where the "Goddess" came out of correct?) and pick up a stone and drop it in there to make sure there is water in there. I will try to peer down inside to see what I can see. Then pull the bucket up if there is water in there and put out the fire.

From Draussa:

I spot Sven closing Jigimy's eyes. "What.........(I trip over my own feet trying to run there).....have you done......(I am angered beyond normal thought now. I am frustrated beyond words.)........It can't be Pathmeer.........I have served you all this time...........(I hear what Erdath is saying, will that save my friend?).....Goddess, what shall I do to have my friend back?" I am close to Jigimy now, feeling utterly beaten.

Just as Erdath lifts the bucket out of the well.... a ghost-like figure rises from Jigimy's body. Even though a spitting image of Jigimy, his voice bellows with a ferocity never heard from Jigimy before!

"ERDATH........THE BODY SHALL BURN!"

Jigimy's ghost then snarls at the "Goddess" with apparent pain in his voice.....

"YOU MAY HAVE KILLED ME.......BUT.....I.....WILL..... NOT .....BE.....YOUR.....PAWN!!!"

Jigimy's ghost then flies with amazing speed at the Goddess. Nose-to-nose with the apparirtion...Jigimy's ghost screams as he attempts to crush the Goddess' throat in his fists....

"YOUR REIGN OF TERROR OVER MY FRIENDS IS OVER !!!!"

Upon hearing the voice and seeing what appears to be Jigimy as a ghost, I will stop with the bucket in my hand and set it down before pouring any water on the burning body.

Upon seeing Jigimy's ghost pass me as I charge the "goddess" I stop my charge and just stare at the ghosts fighting for a moment. Then I turn to look for Gila, what condition is he in?

From Draussa:

Through my frustrated tears, my mouth is again agape. I feel exhausted now, spent. What else could go on this night? I will watch the battle, silently willing Jigimy to kick this witches arse.

When the stone hits something down on the bottom of the well, the ghost's glooming eyes turn to Erdath...

Erdath tries to catch a look from the inside of the well, and sees... [djaykix, please check your PM...]

I WAS A FOOL TO TRUST YOU

Yet, Erdath can perceive something spectacular - the girl's right arm looks now like rotting ...

Then Jigimy rises, and his attack is too much for the ghost to bear.

When the halfling hits her, Jigimy is amazed to see that the ghost's body feels like usual flesh. He hits the girl twice, with full force, and the fiendish creature looses height, and slowly floats to the ground...

Then Erdath strikes, crying in anger, and pulling the shimmering shards Kalen gave him before out of his bag.

The air crackles like dry pergament, and a second later, a magical erruption runs through Erdath, shaking him like a pudding, blazing the stones in his hands, and unleashing dozens of small magical darts into the air.

For a moment, the night is as lit as the day, when the missiles rise into the air and then choose their targets with lethal determination!

While Sven and Draussa are lucky enough to be spared by this magic outburst, Korm and Mandle run right into the course of the missiles. The electricity runs through them, and the disgusting scent of burning flesh fills the air...

None of the magic missiles hits the fighting ghosts, but some find their way into the inn building... Cries and the sounding of breaking wood are the answer...

Erdath, trembling and sweating, cowers down behind the well and will look with amazement to what he has done...

Sven, the hero, tries to shield Gila with his body when he tries to evade the magic darts, and plunges on him. But Gila's open, staring eyes tell him he is too late, again...

Though I am completely shocked and troubled by the devestation I have wrought (OOC: oops sorry guys), I will try to use it to my advantage. I yell to the little girl "My Goddes, I have done what you have asked and you still question my loyalty?" Hoping to regain her trust with that, I will wait a few more seconds for her to be completely distracted by Jigimy and the others. I will dump out what is in my backpack and then climb down the inside of the well. If there is a rope already leading down into the well, I will use that, if not then I will find the bucket and rope that would be nearby and lower that into the well first.

"I am too late. Sorry, Gila... Another good man gone..."

Jigimy and Erdath seem to have the goddess' situation under control, so, I will run over to Mandle and Korm to see what condition they are in. I will do whatever I can to help with their wounds.
